Back pain: symptoms, treatment, prevention

Most people have experienced back pain at least once. The pain usually occurs in the lower back. The reasons can be both the effects of a simple cold and a serious injury.

Back pain can be constant or intermittent and acute or chronic. It depends on different circumstances. Common reasons for its appearance:

  • disc rupture;
  • menstrual cramps;
  • osteoporosis;
  • kidney stones;
  • broken posture;
  • spinal cord injury;
  • osteoarthritis;
  • appendicitis;
  • tumor;
  • weight lifting.

The pain is different depending on the disease. For example, when a disc is hit, there is a sudden or gradually increasing pain. It starts at the back and spreads to the buttocks and legs. One needs rest, as movement, sneezing, coughing only increase the pain. A disease like appendicitis causes severe back pain. If it doesn't subside immediately see a doctor! Symptoms of endometriosis are pain and spasm in the lower back. Usually before or during the menstrual cycle, the pain intensifies. Sharp pain occurs when the lower back is stretched, muscle spasm occurs during lateral movements. Rest can make you feel better.

It is enough for an experienced doctor to examine the spine and listen to the patient's complaints to diagnose the disease. But there are situations when these actions alone are not enough. In these cases, special diagnostic methods are used - X-rays, computed tomography and nuclear magnetic resonance.

Treatment

After the diagnosis is made, the following therapeutic measures are carried out:

  • manual therapy;
  • injections;
  • physical therapy;
  • acupuncture;
  • surgical treatment;
  • drug therapy;
  • therapeutic gymnastics;
  • massage.

Help relieve back pain and folk remedies:

  1. The horseradish is grated and mixed with the sour cream. Place the resulting mass on the lower back, cover with a napkin and tie a wool scarf or scarf on top.
  2. Use St. John's wort, thyme, elderberry and chamomile. A hot compress of these herbs with a wrap will warm your back nicely if it has been cold. The procedure is best done at night.
  3. Burdock leaves have a healing effect. First dry them, then pour boiling water over them and apply to the sore spot for an hour.
  4. Horse chestnut is widely used. Thoroughly grind the dry flowers into powder, take melted lard and camphor oil, mix the ingredients in equal proportions. The mixture is spread on a piece of black bread and applied to the sore spot.
  5. Use compresses based on garlic infusion. Mix with lemon juice. Soak a cotton napkin in this mixture and apply for twenty minutes on a sore spot.

Prevention

The best way to prevent back pain is various physical exercises. It is also necessary to observe the correct posture when walking and sitting. Weight lifting is contraindicated not only for women, but also for men.
